“The role of Communications in Improving Access to Medicines”
As the route to market becomes more and more complex, a strong communications strategy will form a key part of the reimbursement process. We’re delighted to have Teneo PSG on board for this masterclass, providing experts in communication strategy for the pharma industry, as well as Ava Battles, Chief Executive with Multiple Sclerosis Ireland who will give the PAG perspective, and Sandra Redmond, Head of Market Access with GSK who will share her considerable industry expertise.

Ailish Smith, Head of Health with Teneo PSG
Ailish will outline a “Road to Reimbursement” map and demonstrate how to devise an effective communications strategy to influence access, and to ensure internal stakeholders are fully onboard.
Ava Battles, Chief Executive – MS Ireland
Ava will give the perspective of a patient advocacy group and will outline MS Ireland’s experience and involvement in bringing drugs to the market.
Sandra Redmond – Head of Market Access, GSK
An economist by trade, Sandra has significant experience in bringing drugs to market, under Sandra’s guidance GSK have successfully negotiated several HTA applications. Sandra will give an update on market access & and an industry perspective. She will also give an overview of how to prepare for, and potentially avoid some of the pitfalls in the reimbursement process.
Jim McGrath, Director of Public Affairs – Teneo PSG
Prior to joining Teneo in 2017, Jim worked for over 7 years as a senior policymaker across 3 Government Departments working as special advisor to Ministers with experience of all aspects of the legislative, regulatory and budgetary process. Jim’s talk will focus on “Influencing the Influencers” and will highlight the role public affairs can play in the reimbursement process. A journalist by trade, he spent 2 years at the European Parliament assisting MEPs with internal market regulations and was a journalist with Associated Newspapers and the Sunday Tribune.
Katya Kalandaze – Director and Government Affairs Expert
Based in Europe, Katya will give a an overview of the EU landscape and a view from Brussels on access issues and the role of communications across the EU.
James Dunne, Strategic Planning Director – Teneo PSG
James will outline digital strategies for pharmaceuticals and how they can be harnessed to build advocacy and awareness. He has worked in brand and digital strategy for over 15 years and is regarded by many as a creative communications thinker, innovator and instigator. In his time in numerous leading creative agencies he’s helped make the women of Ireland fall in love with a giant potato man, brought Ireland’s favourite beer to the Smart Phone and gamified loyalty. James will bring his experience and expertise to this masterclass.
Conor Brophy, Director of Strategic Communications – Teneo PSG
Conor will moderate the Panel Discussion section of the Masterclass. Prior to joining Teneo PSG he was a journalist and presenter with RTÉ. He has reported on news, current affairs, business and economics on radio, television and online. He presented The Media Show on RTÉ Radio 1. He was a regular presenter on Morning Ireland and also News at One, Drivetime, The Business and This Week. Conor is a regular media and marketing columnist on with The Sunday Business Post.
