Overview:
This masterclass will be a highly interactive and practical morning with plenty of industry related case-studies both from Ireland and internationally showcasing best practice in communications from major players in pharmaceuticals. We have 3 senior directors with FleishmanHillard presenting. Karen O’Keeffe, Communications Director with Pfizer will also give an insight into the communications model Pfizer engages, how this has evolved and where it is going.

- Creating an effective communications strategy – overview of healthcare communications
This session will include best practice examples for pharma industry in Ireland and worldwide, communicating with internal and external audiences. - ‘How to win friends and influence people’ – the role of communications in influencing
This session will cover public affairs, stakeholder engagement and the role of communications in influencing stakeholders. How to influence various audiences including patient groups, peers, upward influencing, politicians and government groups. To include Government policies and lobbying. - Pharma and social media – changing the communications model
This session will include an overview of most popular social media channels and usage in Ireland; content shared by pharma companies with levels of engagement; best practice examples and case studies specific to pharma industry in Ireland, Europe and beyond. - Pfizer Communications Model
This session will be facilitated by Karen O’Keeffe Corporate Affairs Director with Pfizer. Karen will give an overview of the Communication Strategy of Pfizer, it’s international model and how this is shaped to fit the Irish market. - Case-study – Roche
In this session, Bradley Merren, Senior Manager with Vision Consulting will be discussing his work with Roche’s leadership team globally. Vision are working with Roche to assist them in understanding the barriers to high performance, while facilitating the conversations and practices required to drive success. Vision’s belief is that the performance of teams, and therefore organisations, is shaped in the conversations they have (not the technology they use).

With nearly 20 years of public relations experience, James is a strategic communications professional with a strong track record in corporate reputation management and a particular emphasis on issues and crisis management. He works directly with decision makers providing strategic counsel and support in the areas of corporate profiling, reputation management, message shaping, public affairs advice, strategic communications and media relations.
Karen O’Keeffe, Corporate Affairs Director with Pfizer.
Karen will give an overview of the Communication Strategy of Pfizer, it’s international model and how this is shaped to fit the Irish market. Karen has vast experience in communications within the pharmaceutical industry, and is widely regarded in the communications industry. She also holds extensive experience in the general pharmaceutical industry through her time with the agency Wilson Hartnell.
Brian Melarkey, Creative & Board Director with FleishmanHillard
In 2012, Brian became the first creative director in FleishmanHillard’s EMEA network. Specialising in consumer and FMCG marketing communications, he has overseen creative activations for numerous Irish and international clients. Brian’s role is a cross company function that sees him work across a wide selection of the agency’s client roster giving him excellent insight in upcoming trends across many industries.
Bradley Merren, Senior Manager with Vision Consulting
Bradley has been with Vision Consulting for over 4 years. He brings with him a huge wealth of experience across several different functional areas; a variety of sectors (pharmaceuticals, utilities, financial services) and divergent geographies (UK, China, Switzerland, Spain, USA, Brazil).
Bradley has extensive experience tackling productivity and performance across leadership development, sales and retention, operational cost savings, reducing Capex and cycle times, increasing levels of accountability and improving alignment, and developing managers into future leaders.
