We are delighted to partner with EY for our October Stakeholder briefing. This event will explore some of the successes in healthcare transformation and embedding innovation into healthcare along with detailing a roadmap for the future. Prof Mary Day, HSE National Director for Acute Operations will be our guest speaker. She’ll be joined by Dr Ronan Glynn, Partner and Health Sector Lead – EY Ireland with one further industry speaker to be confirmed shortly.

Meet the speakers:
Prof Mary Day, National Director for Acute Operations – HSE
Prof Mary Day took up the position of HSE National Director for Acute Operations on secondment in September 2022. Most recently, she has been Chief Executive of St James’s Hospital, Dublin. Previously she was Chief Executive of the Ireland East Hospital Group and of the Mater hospital, Dublin. Mary was appointed as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the UCD School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health Systems in December 2010.
Her professional career includes a two-year term in the Department of Health & Children as Nurse Advisor in Professional/Practice Development, being responsible for supporting the Nursing Policy Division and advising the Department on all aspects of policy affecting nursing and midwifery education and healthcare services.
Mary was formerly the Directorate Nurse Manager (ADON) in St James’s Hospital for Haematology/Oncology which incorporated the functions of operational management, strategic management, financial management, change management, training & education and quality assurance. Subsequent to this position, Mary’s previous experience traversed diverse roles in oncology/haematology in the UK. Mary’s professional and academic qualifications include a BSc (Hons) in Cancer Nursing (1999) and an MSc in Health Service Management (2004).
Mary is a passionate advocate for whole systems thinking, development of lean healthcare and the integration of academia research innovation with the delivery system.
Dr Ronan Glynn, Partner and Health Sector Lead – EY Ireland
Ronan is Health Sector Partner at EY Ireland. A physiotherapist and medical doctor, Ronan is a Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health Medicine, at the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. Prior to joining EY, Ronan worked as Deputy Chief Medical Officer at the Department of Health in Ireland, was a member of the team tasked with leading the national response to COVID-19 and was Acting Chief Medical Officer for six months of the pandemic.
