Due to the worsening situation surrounding the spread of the coronavirus, the PMI have decided to rescheduled our annual business day “Pharma Summit 2020” to September 10th in the Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel, Killiney. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this change, but feel it is the only sensible course of action to protect our members and guests.
We’re delighted to confirm that our speaker panel are all available for the new date in September, and we look forward to bringing you a “must-attend” event, with plenty of engagement, insight and knowledge sharing.
Dr Martin Daly, General Practitioner
Dr. Martin Daly is a former President of the Irish Medical Organisation. He has been actively involved with the IMO as a member of the IMO GP Committee since 1998, and is regularly featured in interviews regarding GP’s in Ireland. At Pharma Summit, Martin will explore the ongoing challenges facing GP’s in Ireland. Including changes in GP environment, pressure in the primary care system, impact of Sláintecare and where online consultations might fit into a sector taking major strain.
Frank O’Donnell, Public Sector Lead – Microsoft
Frank has over 20 years’ experience across public sector with a particular focus on technology strategy and transformation. He has worked with clients in Ireland, the UK and the Middle East in areas such as Health, Education, Economic Development and Local Government.
Frank will be discussing how global IT companies are partnering with the pharma industry to improve diagnosis times and treatments.
Martin Quinlivan, Assistant Head of Sourcing – HSE
Martin is the Assistant Head of Sourcing in HSE Procurement with responsible for managing the procurement of medical devices and pharmaceutical categories in the HSE. Has over 30 years’ experience in Procurement including 25 years in the HSE Procurement team. The scope of responsibility includes procurement of the assigned categories across the HSE and wider health and public services with an estimated annual value in excess of €1.2bn.
Tommy Fanning, Head of Bio-pharmaceuticals & Food – IDA Ireland
Tommy will be giving an overview of how “Ireland Inc” is positioned on the world stage, what we need to do to stay relevant, and how Covid-19 has affected both Ireland’s economy and the global economy. He’ll also give an overview of FDI, new projects and global trends.
Darren Scully, Medicine Shortages Lead – Health Products Regulatory Authority
Darren supports the HPRA’s role in the management of medicine shortages and works to create an environment to reduce this likelihood. At pharma summit, Darren will present the findings from the HPRA’s newly completed first annual review of shortages in Ireland. This will include product and therapeutic categories impacted, average age of a medicine that goes short most frequently, causes and duration, along with impact of Covid-19, lessons learnt and what changes have been implemented as a result.
Dr Daniel Clear, Managing Director – Myclinic.ie
Daniel is one of the founders of Myclinic.ie, and is their Managing Director. Myclinic.ie provide an online GP consultation service, they also provide the GP online service on behalf of the VHI. Daniel will be discussing innovation in GP care, best practice from across Europe, along with legal implications and GDPR concerns.
Prof Martin Curley, Director of the Digital Academy & Open Innovation – HSE
Martin heads up the Innovation section of the HSE. His team is actively working with AI companies to provide machine led-learning across the HSE to decrease idle times in diagnostics. He’ll also give an update on the development of e-prescribing.
MC for the day will be Dr Ciara Kelly, General Practitioner, TV – Radio Broadcaster and Columnist
Dr Ciara Kelly is a GP, Broadcaster and Award-Winning Columnist. She currently presents ‘Lunchtime Live’ on Newstalk. She has previously worked and presented on a number of high profile TV shows; RTÉ’s popular Operation Transformation, RTÉ’s Doctors on Call, RTÉ’s Body Shopping and Virgin Media’s The Morning Show. She is also a regular contributor to other TV shows including Ireland AM and Claire Byrne Live. Ciara has a popular weekly column, Doctors Orders in The Sunday Independent.
